Ever wondered how to get rich? Of course you have — and if you’re lame, you may have even listened to some of the thousands of gurus who claim to know how to do so.

But those who really crave wealth know that it can’t be found in the words of an NFT salesman. Instead, they have to turn to the advice of self-made men who have fought hard for their earnings, those who crushed anything and anybody on their way to the top.

Naturally, the image that comes to mind when someone pictures such a person is a stereotypical Russian mobster — and now, one of those alleged mobsters has some advice on how to make money.

His advice is simple: Be a Russian mobster. Beyond that, he says to employ “reverse psychology.” In short, this means becoming your own boss rather than working for a wage, focusing on business instead of money, building your business in bad times so you can better exploit the situation, leaving the country if the government is bad, figuring out how to game the tax market, and finally, not fearing risk — instead, “smiling” at it.

There are a few problems with this “mobster’s” advice. First, this man is not a Russian mobster. He’s kind of not even Russian. His name is Andrej Kaminsky, and though his mother is Russian, he grew up in Berlin. In fairness, the YouTube channel that posted this video, Grim Hustle, makes no attempt to mask this fact, saying that he is speaking “on behalf of those men behind Grim Hustle, that can not show their face or talk about their crimes.” I’ll take their word for it.

Second, anyone who actually got rich in 1990s Russia knows that the true way to make money at the time was not being a good businessman, but being friends with the right people — and, of course, learning how to ignore a few dead bodies.

There weren’t a lot of people who managed to build massive businesses from scratch in 1990s Russia, but there were plenty who scored backroom deals to make sure their ****** business had a place in the country’s economy. Some were even able to do a few under-the-table favors to buy formerly state-owned enterprises for pennies on the dollar, shooting them from millionaires to multimillionaires or even billionaires overnight.

That’s not to say all of the advice is bad — it’s just not particularly unique to a Russian mobster. Talk to any expat dropshipping guru, and they’ll more than likely tell you the same thing. That said, if you’re ever threatened by someone with this accent, it’s probably best that you just do whatever they say. You might even get a successful business out of it!
